OUR HISTORY

Historically, the establishment of Star Montessori International School (SMIS) is the brainchild of Mr. Benjamin Eshun and his wife, Mrs Dorcas Akuokoh Eshun. They realized how difficult it was for parents of Mile to send their wards particularly the little ones to school. Worried about this challenge facing parents, the couple decided to relieve the burden of parents. This idea finally came into fruition in the year 2015. The school commenced as crèche with only two learners and a teacher. The school came under the supervision of the Ghana Education Service with PTA and Management Unit in 2016. Historically, the school has and keeps growing each passing day. Currently the school comprises of three departments, Pre-School, Kindergarten and Primary. The enrollment of the school now stands at 118 made up of 54 Boys and 64 Girls. Teacher enrollment currently stands at 14. With ten 10 females and 4 males. The school keep making history and discovery time and again.

OUR PHILOSOPHY

Our understanding of philosophy shapes how we teach and how we guide our learners to assimilate what we teach them. Generally, we consider philosophy as how a teacher teaches what he or she teaches and how learners learn what they learn. Though the new Ghana Education Pre-Tertiary Curriculum Framework advocates for both fundamental philosophies like social constructivism and social interactionism, we humbly aligned with multiplicity of teaching philosophies. Our bases for the adoption of multiplicity of teaching philosophies stemmed from the fact that assessment of our learners has revealed variation of learning needs. Our classroom is made up of learners ranging from cognitive, auditory, visual, audio-visuals, kinesthetic among others. It is therefore imperative that our philosophy is varied to meet their learning needs. In the light of this, we orient ourselves with the following philosophies:
